Hello!!

Hello!! I'm not a total newbie with Linux. I'm played around with it before. But now it is time for me to sit down and actually learn as much as I can about Linux.

If you have any questions for me, I'll gladly answer them

Hello and welcome to LQ.

OK, lemme ask a question of you.

If I needed a quick answer to how a terminal command worked, what would I ask?

I mean in dos you can type help or dir /? but what is the way to see something like a short manual for a command in linux?

At the end of the terminal command put a space the "-h"
Or "-help" or "--help"

You could also try typing "man <command>" like this:

man cd

or

man ls
