Greetings humans!

Okay, not the best subject, but on topic?
I've been using Slackware Linux at home for going on... I forget how many years now. Since Slackware 11. Recently made the jump to 64bit and couldn't be happier. Running slackware64-current.
My first distribution was Mandrake. Probably back in 2002. A friend of mine was running Slackware and told me to give it a try. Been a happy slacker ever since. So I guess, 13 years now.
I would call myself a casual power user. I'm comfortable compiling and resolving dependencies, without package management, but I couldn't tell you what half of the tools available are, or what they do.
XFCE is the desktop of choice.
Been following the Slackware forum for a few weeks now, but have often found good answers on the forums here.
Almost forgot the install of slackware-arm running on the Raspberry-Pi model B. 1st gen.

working to update / upgrade / integrate my Linux boxes ...

I bid you welcome. One of my first distributions was also Mandrake.

I have been very impressed with :
Linux Mint 17.3 “Rosa” Cinnamon

this seems to cover a lot of ground with ease of configuration .. has gnome and the packages like virtualbox have worked right out of the box

( running w2k server so far with virt box ) samba worked ( joined domain) right way ... learning configurations for grub and using gparted

oh what fun

just finish copying my slack14.1 ext3 root fs to a new harddrive as ext4 ...

mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdc1 # format a new ext4 partition
mount /dev/sdc1 /sdc1 # mount the new partition and edit the fstab
cp -ax /sdb1/* /sdc1 # copy all the files

chroot /sdc1 # make new drive the root

lilo -b /dev/sdc # lilo the drive

worked for me ....
