Greetings from North Idaho, U.S.A.

Howdy, folks. I hope this is the right spot to be for this post. I'm retired from a large company as a programmer/analyst (fancy for Web developer) and have no desire to code much any more. However, Linux was popular among my workmates and I've been lazily putting up with Windows for far too long. I may get deeper into this, for myself. I want to move both my own computer and my wife's to Linux. I am savvy enough to have fun playing with distros, but am looking for a simple one to gently (& quickly) move my wife away from Win7. She is the opposite of savvy in this context, so a distro that poses few changes to patterns already developed in her daily use is my goal. Her needs are email, average amount of surfing (nothing complex, no gaming), and a small amount of routine online business. Since I am, literally, looking at distros and descriptions / interface examples this week for the first time, I would like to make her transition as painless as possible. I'll take my time with my own computer and sample several, I'm sure.

Thanks.

Thank you. I'm glad I looked before I leapt, and found this forum immediately. I've been reading threads and getting the hang of what others are experiencing.
