greetings and appreciation

Hi,

I have used LQ several times (via google searches) for help with various tasks that I can't seem to remember how to do for more than a couple days (arithmetic in bash, dealing with quotes when calling awk from within scripts, etc). I recognize LQ as the site which contains helpful information among a sea of well intentioned but unhelpful web sources.

So thanks for being helpful! I'll try and contribute if I can....

I'm a mac using scientific programmer; I do lots of fortran.

Best,

Micah
