Glad to be here!

I've been using Suse Linux (10.0, 10.1) for a year and a half now and have really begun to see why it is so wonderful. Granted, I am educated as an electrical engineer so if I seem a bit slow be patient; I am a hardware person. In any event I truly like the ideology behind open source software and I think it is the way of the future (assuming it wasn't the way of the past). I have to laugh when I have friends ooh and ah over Beryl and then watch their jaws drop when I tell them it is Beryl run on SuSE rather than Aero on Vista. Putting up a web server was a snap and all of the text editing capabilities has made searching and sorting things a joke. I wish I would have known the power of bash years ago instead of the point and click garbage I've done for years.

Hi Bill,

I certainly don't think anyone will consider you 'slow'. Currently I am writing an emulator for the Mips ISA in Ruby, and I have learned that pushing bits around with software is relatively easy. I cannot imagine how much more difficult it must be to design and fabricate such a thing in hardware.

Anyway, welcome to LQ, I am sure you will find most everybody here is friendly and helpful.

LOL welcome. I'm educated as an electronics engineer. A tad more software oriented but pretty much the same boat. I know what you mean about Bash and Beryl.

While Beryl is pretty much useless it does look pretty cool and impresses those who are used to boring ole Windoze.

Welcome to LQ.

Taunt.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!
