Giving Linux a go at work

Hello everyone,

I am very new to this board and very new to the world of Linux. I have never had the opportunity to work with or even see a computer with Linux installed on it *gasp*! I worked with RHE Linux WS Server and Client for a few weeks, and then after we realized we would not get additional funding for the licensing fees we bunked that idea.

I now have been given the privilege at work to interact with it and have been delegated the task of installing FC6 on a few laptops here and then get VMware Server up and running. Getting VMware installed and appropriately configured on FC6 with kernel-2.6.19-1.2911.fc6 and kernel-2.6.19-1.2911.6.4.fc6 is much more daunting that I had expected. I only had minor troubles getting it to work properly with RHE Linux WS, so I didn't expect it to be this bad.

I came here to further my knowledge in Linux and hopefully *fingers crossed* when it is all said and done, but able to talk competently about what I have been doing in Linux.

If anyone knows of other good Linux Knowledge bases or forums I would be very interested to know. Thanks in advance.

LQ is the best forum!! The only others I would bother with are ones dedicated to Fedora.

Knowledge base--try http://tldp.org for starters
