First Timer

Howdy everyone, who ever you all are!

I've joined this forum to learn about linux and how it works so I can get my server up and running, since the "Know It All" IT tech I hired downloaded UBUNTU and then confessed he did not know anything about it or linus. and left me in a lurch.

What an opportunity to grow and expand my knowledge.......

Welcome!

What kind of server you have in mind, what services it has to provide?

I have a brand new HP Proliant ML110 G& with 2 350 Gig hard drives. I want to use it to send my email advertising to my 1.6 mil clients list.

Oh my ...
To send out all those emails you do not need a powerful box, to run a dedicated email server you will be fine with just a small 1 GB drive and Pentium i686.
