clueless Georgia boy with Red Hat

Hello everyone,
Glad to have found this resource because I've got questions!

A few years ago I administered a Sun RaQ 3 (piece of crap) but I tried to avoid the gui and use SSH as much as possible and I've played with Red Hat off and on since version 6.

Like I said, I'm basically clueless and I just installed Red Hat ES 4 on a nice proliant...hoping to get it secured and serving up sites soon.

I'll mainly be trying to learn about mySQL administration, PHP maintenance (most of the modules that exist), IPtables and general networking at this point.

Welcome to another Georgian. What part of Georgia are you from? (I assume you do mean Georgia, the state in the US, not Georgia-the-former-Soviet-block-country)

I recently discovered that 3 of our awesome moderators are from the Atlanta area, as am I.

Thanks!
I live in Watkinsville right near Athens, no where near Russia!

I work as the IT (and other stuff) guy for a company in Winder just off 316.
