An intro post

I've only begun using Linux, after wanting to for many years. I finally got my hands on a small used laptop with a good enough system to run a good distro, and consequently I installed Ubuntu this weekend.

I have a friend, MasonM, who posts here regularly and has helped me with the beginning points of getting my new machine set up, but I'm as newbie as they come. He recommended that I come here to get my answers when I have questions, so here I am per his suggestion.

Hopefully I'll be able to turn my "newbie" status into some sort of seasoned experience . . . with time, my friends, with time.

Welcome aboard.

Careful on getting "seasoned". Those of us who are most "seasoned" tend to become "salty".
