2010AD attitude preventing Linux from obliterating the OSthatmustnotbenamed

Does Linux (and by "Linux" I mean the community) have the subtle know how, the concerted determination and the boisterous camaraderie with which to obliterate the OSthatmustnotbenamed?

If 'no', why not?
If 'yes', when (why not sooner (read that as "why not already?"))?

Hello!
My name is Brian Ess (pronounced as the letter 'S').

Welcome to LQ.

I wonder if Harry Potter is a member of the Linux community.

Fear of the name increases the fear of the thing itself.

So I'll say it: WINDOWS! :D

Why would wizards need computers, let alone Linux? :p

No. We're still fighting which taste is better. And, let's face it, Otto Normalverbraucher will never leave The Other System. Linux is too complicated for them. You need an IQ of 110 or more. That eliminates 90% of the population.

I'll jump in only because the thread is already so completely de-railed.

100 is--by definition--the mean. Thus, 50% are below, and 50% are above**. Continuing to split the hair, note that many people who appear to be "not the sharpest tool in the shed" are either poorly educated, or just don't care. Also, many people will say: "I can't" when they really mean: "I don't want to."

**This is obviously not precise. 100 is the peak of the standard distribution, and many will be exactly AT 100.

Thank you bsdunix, MrCode, smeezekitty, fruttenboel and especially pixellany who is, not only a moderator but also rightly pointed out the this thread "is already so completely derailed".
I will assume that the sum total of this thread was a conspired, intentional and covert answer to my question...
and so, again, thank you.

You need to know the standard deviation to make a statement with some value here.

Avg +/- 1 st dev = 66% of the population
