it was very helpfull to get started after that you can continue with the docs from proftpd.org for details

maybe it would be usefull to add a configuration example for a default setup like most used

like how to make a complete config for a situation with a tree like

/ftp/
/ftp/upload/
/ftp/download/

how you secure it and stuff, that way people have an example how to use the commands and can take pieces of code from those directory to make their own restrictions like they want it

I used your guide and it was helpful, but I still can't run a server. I can't figure out how to create a configuration file ... it's too confusing and not very well explained. Can you go over some syntax too? Thanks a lot!!

I'm the administrator of Orange Servers, ftp://osrv.serveftp.com and ftp://orangeservers.serveftp.com and moving to linux would r-o-c-k

Someone suggested to post this here, because it isn't described very well on the documentation or on the net, but was very helpful:

Multiple DefaultRoots for different types of users
