Zorin USB wifi stick problem

I have what I think is a unique problem.

I installed Zorin 8 on a desktop computer and the wifi worked great using a Cisco Valet stick. I decided to install Zorin 9 and the wifi worked while installing when it was getting the upgrades. Right after that, when the computer rebooted, the wifi would no longer work.

I assumed the updates somehow messed up the wifi so I tried reinstalling Zorin 9 again, this time without updating, and the wifi would not work. The computer would not see the wifi stick.

I then tried reinstalling Zorin 8, with which the wifi worked for a couple of months, and it now would not work on 8. The stick is good because it works on Windows computers.

Could something have been written to the Cisco Valet, since it basically is a thumb drive, that would stop it from working in Zorin?

I installed W7 on the same computer after all this and it works fine.

Anyone have an idea what may be wrong?

Thanks
Smitty

I think that would be unstable driver/wifi manager/ or just OS thing.

Try your luck with other disto, install other Desktop enviroment or wifi manager - if that is possible on Zorin OS.

Thanks for the reply. I knew there are problems with wireless device drivers in Linux so what fooled me was how easy the Cisco Valet worked at first. Then it quit working like it had broken, but it is ok because I have used it on 2 W7 computers since and it is fine.

USB WiFi problems in Zorin 9

I'm having the same problem. The USB adapter only works intermittently in Zorin 9. Works fine in a Windows machine.
