WPA wifi connection problems.

I am trying to get WPA to work for me. I am using the wpa_supplicant and am able to connect to the wifi network. I get the ip assigned using dhclient and all is wonderful. Next i try to ping www.yahoo.com and it works. So I say great. Next I open my browser and try accessing www.yahoo.com it doesnt open. I can access my router page at 192.168.1.1.
I dont think its a dns problem.

i am able to ping anywhere.

PS
I am using the -Dwext extension, since there doesnt seem one available for ipw3945.

can someone tell me whats happening?

Do you control the access point? Maybe it is just configured to not let http connections and force everyone to use proxy?

yup, you were right. there was something wrong with the AP. I reseted it and then reconfigured and got things to work.
thanks for the advice! :D
