Question wlan0 disconnecting when eth0 connects/disconnects

hi, i am running suse 10.1, connecting to internet via belkin 54g usb wireless adapter (through ndiswrapper) anm i am connected via ethernet (realtek 8139) to my friend's windows box.

i am not using networkmanager, i use ifup/ifdown

now, everytime my friend restarts his computer, or disconnects ethernet cable, my wireless switches off, and i have to switch it on manually, sometimes even to unplug it and plug it again...

it is very bothersome, any suggestion welcome
