WLAN problems -- driver works, AP is being found but no LAN connection...

Driver is working. Access Point is being found on a correct channel

Code:
Sep 3 12:09:31 omega kernel: RTL8180: Select a BSS and Join it at channel 7.
Sep 3 12:09:31 omega kernel: RTL8180: BSSID = 0x00:0x02:0x2d:0x41:0xe5:0x09
Sep 3 13:46:46 omega kernel: RTL8180: Select a BSS and Join it at channel 10.
Sep 3 13:46:46 omega kernel: RTL8180: BSSID = 0x00:0x02:0x2d:0x4a:0x82:0x24
.

But network doesn't work -- dhclient doesn't receive any DHCP messages... If to set up a static unused IP for the wlan0 interface, then ping doesn't go to the gateway at 192.168.1.1 (network configuration is correct...).

"Link" led is flashing instead of being plain on...

Could anybody point me to where I should search?

The distro I'm using is Debian Sid (unstable). I'm using a PCMCIA WLAN card based on RealTek RTL8180L chipset, driver is of version 1.20. Kernel release number is 2.4.22-ck1 (a Con Kolivas' patchset without variable Hz, grsecurity etc.).

Commands used to bring the WLAN card up are:

Code:
insmod rtl8180_24x
/sbin/iwpriv wlan0 wlan_para ssid=uninet #SSID is surely correct!
/sbin/iwpriv wlan0 wlan_para networktype=infra
/sbin/iwpriv wlan0 enable
This information is double-checked against the information provided by a M$ Windows WLAN tool provided for the card and should be 99.99% correct. No encryption is used (access is public).

The network I am trying to connect is using a DHCP server. The DHCP server assigns private IPs in the form of 192.168.1.XXX, which means, of course, that all connected machines are in the 192.168.1.0 network...

It doesn't seem to be a pure networking problem, because all TCP/IP-related stuff seems to be OK...
