wlan instead of eth

hello all. i have a normal network card assigned as eth0. when i added my asus WL-138g wireless lan card suse 9.0 added it as eth1, which i thought nothing of at the time.

using ndiswrapper to add the drivers,

linux:/home/Rich # ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
mrv8k51 hardware present

linux:/home/Rich # ndiswrapper -m
Adding "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" to /etc/modules.conf

so im completely confused. do i need the card to be called wlan0 instead of eth1? if so how do i do that. if not how do i configure the card? i was following a tutorial from this forum and it said i should type "modprobe ndiswrapper", but that resulted in

linux:/home/Rich # modprobe ndiswrapper
modprobe: Can't locate module ndiswrapper

please help people!! (i am a bit of a newbie to lx, so b patient )

Could you post some things that might help in tracking down the problem

Try these commands and report the output

ifconfig (as root)

iwconfig

ls /usr/src/modules

cat /etc/network/interfaces

Could you also post the URL of the instructions you were following, and exactly where you got up to, and any error messages you got at previous steps

This should give a clue as to what is happening

Can you edit /etc/modules.conf and change the line to:
Code:
alias eth1 ndiswrapper
That should fix it

EDIT: New keyboard, still can't spell!
