Wireless Tools jacked my jive all up
 

Well I have CentOS 4.2, a bcm43xx card and it all worked yesterday until today when I upgraded all my files etc from the up2date then I had to run ndiswrapper all over again etc. Well I got this dumb idea to go ahead and get the lastest wireless tools v28 and thats when my junk got all jacked up. It gave me some idiotic error where it was looking for v27 file but no matter of troubleshooting would fix it, so I uninstalled from the source directory and reinstalled v27. Everything seemed to work until I got these errors when trying to dhclient my card:

Any clue? From what I can gather it sees the SIOCADDRT file which is probably old from when it worked and took the same ip it was given this morning. How do I fix this calamity before I just wipe and start all over again?

Mods are going to be displeased at your double post ( http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=441065 ). I'm replying here because Linux-Wireless is the appropriate forum for your problem and "Wireless Tools jacked my jive all up" is way cooler than "Another wireless problem".

First, just to venture a guess but if you recompiled ndiswrapper after installing v28 it would've taken it. Second, it seems like the card is receiving an IP, are you sure it errors out?? Third, you very very very very rarely (and some would say never) HAVE to flush and fill a linux box. Certainly not over wireless drivers. Have a little patience and someone will be able to help you out.

Ya the double post is becuz i realized i posted the first in the wrong forum. as for patience, Im having little of it as you can see by this title haha i ran out of intelligent words to use. Ive been at this for over 2 months off and on when i had time to get the wireless working. It finally started working and now its not. But anyways, its a learning ...'experience'. From the message I'm thinking it is erroring out and just pulling up an ip from records. It sees the ap but it cant ping it nor can it resolve host. I'll try reinstalling wireless tools 28 and recompiling ndiswrapper. How do I properly uninstall old versions of the softwares? source directory make make uninstall?

I did what you said, uninstalled, recompiled wireless first then ndiswrapper and still no worky.

BUT i did run netconfig wlan0 afterwards and it saw the wlan0 so i configured it how i wanted it and apparently that wrote the missing script. So then I did a service network restart and pinged yahoo and what do ya know!! What it needed was a missing line of script for it, and netconfig wrote it so i didnt have to. ndiswrapper allowed the netconfig to see the card....now its all coming together and Im actually UNDERSTANDING whats going on in the background. Hope this helps someone.
