Iv recently bought a 3Com AP and NIC.. I have managed to access the Internet and other computers connected to the AP in Windows but I have had no such luck in Linux.

Mandrake detected and installed the correct driver (I think) automatically, and I have managed to get an IP address from my access points DHCP function, but cannot access the Internet/other nodes or the APs configuration itself (using http).

Some information that may help:

The address of the DNS server Windows is using differs from the one Linux has found. (Linux tells me its using the AP as a DNS server?!)

I am using Infrastructure mode under Windows.. Linux doesnt seem to have this option in the configuration wizard.

I cannot change the channel using iwconfig (iwconfig eth1 channel 5 - returns 'Operation not supported')

I am getting an IP address from the AP.


cant think of any other info at the moment as im not on the box..

try searching for ndiswrapper inside the forum i am sure u will get some help....

hmmm if u installed the ndiswrapper correctly i think u shld be getting the wlan0 instead of the eth1
