Wireless not working on OpenSuse 10.3

Hi all,
I use Knetwork Manager to connect to my home WAP secured wlan. The first time everything went smooth: I selected the network from the list of available wlans, configured WAP and the passphrase and the connection worked.
Second time I tried it just stops at the activations stage while configuring the device(28%), since then it never worked, not even for open wlans(however it only stops at 57% when the IP config already started).
Is there a way to get Knetwork manager to output error messages?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi,
I think that program already logs many things in /var/log/messages by default (or some other file in /var/log).
I also encountered similar problems, and solved them by configuring the wireless interface with yast, in the network card section. There you set statically some parameters, like essid, ip address, which can not be modified by knetworkmanager (as far as i noticed), so they can conflict each other.
Check those settings and let us know if you find a solution,
good luck!

The thing is that I don't want to enter anything statically as I need to be able to change wlan without much of a hassle(connecting to two different uni wlans and the home one)
Having said that: I tried configuring the wlan card in yast and stumbled upon something weird : Whenever I change the firewall setting it reverts back to the default value(which happens to be "block all traffic"), I'm not sure this is the main cause of my problem, but it still might be relevant.

Here are a few excerpts from my /var/log/messages from when I try to connect (eth1 being my wlan card):

Mar 27 20:17:50 linux-PC kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready
Mar 27 20:17:52 linux-PC avahi-daemon[2978]: Registering new address record for fe80::20e:35ff:fe56:d649 on eth1.*.
Mar 27 20:18:01 linux-PC kernel: eth1: no IPv6 routers present
Mar 27 20:18:32 linux-PC avahi-daemon[2978]: Withdrawing address record for fe80::20e:35ff:fe56:d649 on eth1

thx for any input

edit:
here's the log for another try:
Mar 27 20:49:17 linux-PC kernel: ipw2200: Failed to send SCAN_ABORT: Command timed out.
Mar 27 20:49:18 linux-PC kernel: ipw2200: Failed to send CARD_DISABLE: Command timed out.
Mar 27 20:49:21 linux-PC kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready
Mar 27 20:49:32 linux-PC kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready
Mar 27 20:49:34 linux-PC avahi-daemon[2978]: Registering new address record for fe80::20e:35ff:fe56:d649 on eth1.*.
Mar 27 20:49:43 linux-PC kernel: eth1: no IPv6 routers present
Mar 27 20:50:26 linux-PC avahi-daemon[2978]: Withdrawing address record for fe80::20e:35ff:fe56:d649 on eth1.

can't make any sense of that, I never tried using ipv6, can anyone point me as to where I could explicitly set the card to ipv4?

edit:
Set the card to IPv4, still experiencing problems at 28%
