Wireless not working, help!

Hi. I saw on an ad that Ubuntu 9.10 was as gor or better thank Windows 7 so I downloaded it and installed on my HP compac 6735s laptop. Everything is working fine except for the wireless which unables me to get connected on the internet as it is the only way i have. My computer used a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g wireless device. I do not know the anatomy of Linux so I have absolutely no experience in this. I liked Ubuntu 9.10 very much and I would like to use it but I cannot if I can't connect to the internet. Please help!

This is Ubuntu 9.10 problem. If you like it, wait until developers fix it. And, please, check their web site forum.

Would you please provide a link for this?

When you say "it doesn't work" what does that actually mean? Have you tried to get it working, and if so please describe what you've done and what happened when you did it. Basically we need some more details before we can help.

It doesn't seem to recognize my wireless device. It does not switch on. I guess it must be a driver problem but where can I find and how do I install drivers?

It looks as if Ubuntu has started including the wl driver for some Broadcom devices. Try the procedure outlined in the last of nimnull22's links. You can safely ignore the first two links, they are pretty much just a grab bag of various wireless problems.
