wireless network stopped working in linux after setting it up in windows

Hi

Today my wireless network, which has been fine so far, stopped working after booting in to windows and setting up the network there as well. I am running a multiboot XP/Mandriva 2006 and through the mandriva control panel I have tried to remove the wireless network interface and set it up again, but without any luck. I don't know how it could be done, but I have a strong feeling that windows has done something that for some reason prevents linux from accessing the wireless network. I don't know what data to specify here, but please tell me what to find out and I will boot into linux and get it.

thanks in advance

Johannes

Yes I am...? Its an Inspiron 6000 with an Intel Wireless 2200BG network adapter. It used to work, but alas... no more. Is there hope?

Johannes

Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I believe you can turn the wireless on in Windows before you shutdown, and then it will work in Linux.

Hi

Thanks for the pointer. The network did work in windows. Anyway I have solved the problem in a very unelegant fashion: I have reinstalled. Things have been working fine since then except that linux hangs once and a while, and I am quite certain that this is caused by the wireless network adapter. I will start a new thread on this later.

Thanks anyway

Johannes
