wireless network not working on 2.6.14

I have a DWL-122 wireless cart and a USB wlan adapter who's working fine with the at76c503 driver (from berlios) on Debian Linux 2.6.8 kernel, but it's still not working on the 2.6.14 kernel. (I compiled it by myself with the sources on the "debian way")

While starting the kernel 2.6.14 says:

wlan0 error while getting interface flags: no such device ...

Here I am trying to install the driver (that worked on 2.6.8 very well) on kernel 2.6.14

pieterjan@debianlinux:~$ su

(by that the important at76c503 module is on 2.6.14 not in my lsmod, in 2.6.8 it's ofcourse in lsmod)

I don't see wlan0 with the commands iwconfig or ifconfig on 2.6.14 (on 2.6.8 I see wlan0 ofcourse)

Is this logic? At the start it said wlan0 no such interface?

debianlinux:/home/pieterjan/test/at76c503a# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

debianlinux:/home/pieterjan/test/at76c503a# ifconfig

The result of tail -f /var/log/syslog when I plug in the USB adapter again on 2.6.14:

Dec 9 21:23:43 localhost udev[9948]: parse error /etc/udev/rules.d/025_libsane.rules, line 499:121, rule skipped

Dec 9 21:23:43 localhost udev[9948]: parse error

Modprobe at76c503 doesn't work also ...

debianlinux:/home/pieterjan/test/at76c503a# lsusb | grep Atmel
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 03eb:7605 Atmel Corp. at76c503a 802.11b Adapter

2.6.8-2

On 2.6.8-2-686 I see 76c503 with lsmod. I also see my network "DRAADLOOS" with Network (Menu)

debianlinux:/home/pieterjan# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"DRAADLOOS" Nickname:"okuwlan"

Now there is wlan0 ofcourse ...

When I plug the USB Adapter again in the syslog says:

Dec 10 13:58:09 localhost udev[31023]: parse error /etc/udev/rules.d/025_logitechmouse.rules, line 19:88, rule skipped
Dec 10 13:58:09 localhost udev[31023]: parse error /etc/udev/rules.d/025_logitechmouse.rules, line 21:26, rule skipped
Dec 10 13:58:10 localhost usb.agent[30988]: at76c503-rfmd: already loaded

Can anyone help please?

It looks as if your make is going bad (there are a number of errors in the output and I'm guessing "Fout" is Dutch for error).

One thing I know changed in the 2.6.13 kernel is they started using a new version of wirless extentions, and that requires an upgrade of the Wireless Tools to version 28, which is still in beta. You might want to check some of the Debian repositories for version 28 and see if upgrading to that helps. I know it does in Slackware.
