i hane a dlink 520 dwl rev d using a linux-wlan-ng driver and the ip adress dosne do not show up (i updated firmware for router) and i will try knoppix
sorry about the delay work over flow had to use a windows pc (shiver shiver shiver)

You wifi adapter has a realtek 8180 chipset the linux-wlan-ng drivers are for the prism chipset

This link has the source to create the drivers you need

I have switched the driver but i am getting the exact same errors
i have tried kinoppix with no luck

Is it still the same: you get via dhcp an address from your router but there is no default gw and cant ping an ip address
Could you post the content of
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0

i reinstalled windows and found out the hardware nmo longer worked thanx for trying to help i am now useing a dlink dwl 122 usb wlan adapter and i is working fine thanks for trying to help
