I was just thinking off the top of my head there. cell phone + anything + linux laptop
is just what I figured it would take. I'd even heard something about a compact flash ("CF") card/device but know very little about how that would be useful for something like this.
I'll have a look around for "digital data-capable cell phones".

Nice. I didn't know you could get a mobile phone built right into a pcmcia card. :)
I'll hunt around for details from folks who've gotten this working (I'm currently just using the stock bf24 Debian kernel). If anyone has any links, please post.
