Wireless internet not working.

Hi, i need some help please. I am having issues with my wireless internet connection i am unable to connect. I have installed and run ndiswrapper -i with driver Neta3ab.inf and now when i run ndiswrapper -l am getting the message Neta3ab driver installed and device (168c:001a) present (alternated driver ath5k) When i tried to connect with Wicd i get the error unable to get ip address and i cant ping my router am getting error message network unreachable. But Wicd can see other networks around and mine so i really dont know whats up. I have search lots of threads but it seems none contain my specific issue. To add when im running the iwconfig command i get this everytime.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:" "
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.48 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:Off Fragment thr=2346 B
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beascon:0

Thanks for any help.

Regards

Can you run the command "iwlist scan" as root (while you are near you wireless network) and paste all the output here?

Hmm... odd. Nothing mentioned about wlan0?

You mentioned earlier that you can pick up other networks but not your own, and that the device is registered as present. I am guessing maybe that you wireless router is not set to broadcast its SSID. Can you access your routers configuration page and tell it to broadcast the SSID?

Also, what kind of encryption is your wireless router using?

I'm no expert on wireless, but I would imagine that either you are not picking up your wireless network because the SSID is not being broadcast, or your wireless card/driver is not capable of handling the level of encryption you are using on your wireless network.

Hope that helps a little bit. You have probably already been there, but sometimes there is helpful information at linuxwireless.org.

Smile

Now it seems that am able to see my wlan0 when im running iwconfig. Lately i have been trying to solve my problem with the driver driver Neta3ab.inf with the help of ndiswrapper it did not work. So after that i tried madwifi and it goten worst i could not see my wlan0 like i see it now. I ve gone back with Neta3ab.inf, and the driver is reinstalled but every time i tried to connect with wicd i get over and over again the unable to get ip address error. I dont know what else i could try, maybe buy a 50 feet ethernet cable and that would solve my problem. But i would not be learning how to fix my issue and this is a good problem to learn a few things from it.

Thanks

Regards
