I had madwifi running fine on this box until the eight days without power after hurricane Gustav. I couldn't get it back on the air after that. Tried ath5k on the machine across the hall; it seemed to install but I couldn't get networkmanager to come up so went to madwifi there without problems. I then tried ath5k on this one since I hadn't been successful reinstalling madwifi; 8 modules failed to install. Lsmod shows ath_pci present but modinfo ath_pci says it isn't there and modprobe ath_pci says the same.

I went back to madwifi and got as far as setting essid. When I tried to set key says SET failed on invalid argument. As before I used sudo iwconfig ath0 key and 26 hex digits with no = ' or ". I have checked and rechecked the key against what I used before and in the other cumputer.
