wireless drivers loaded and working, but no ip address, and can't use internet

I installed ndiswrapper and had it load my drivers. Everything worked fine. I did the modprobe, it was already configured.

KWiFiManager says I'm connected, tells me the mac address to the access point, but lables the access point as UNKNOWN. It says I'm at channel 6, with a strong connection, but the Local IP says unavailable.

I'm using debian Sarge. Let me know what else you need to know. I think I just need to do something with DHCP, but I don't know enought about the system yet to go any farther.

The connection does not espablish automatically. When I turn on the computer, I have to su to root and do modprobe ndiswrapper. Then KWiFiManager tells me I'm connected, etc.
