Wireless connection problems ... No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

I am in an RV Park and I cannot get my computer to connect to the Park's wireless. I am using a Linksys WPC55AG v 1.2 Wireless A+G adapter.
The computer is Dell Latitude D800.
I don't normally have any trouble with connections. I can't identify anything abnormal about the results of iwconfig, below.

My wife is sitting here happily on the internet. She has a Dell Inspiron 1525 with built-in adapter.

Both computers are using Ubuntu 9.04.

Please help!!!!

sudo iwconfig wlan0 freq 2.462G ( OR ... iwconfig essid "2WIRE779"... OR ... iwconfig ap 00:1B:5B:52:AD:19)
sudo killall dhclient
sudo dhclient wlan0

What do you mean by this: "The "Auto Connector" thingee won't connect"
NetworkManager doesn't want to connect? or it doesn't show 2WIRE779 in the list of APs? or it doesn't allow you to connect?

YES the network manager does show 2WIRE779 in the list but does not connect. That is why I tried to connect manually.

What network manager do you use?

hi again,

Been on the way home that's why no response.

I generally use the automatic Wireless Network connection that 9.04 came with.

But when this doesn't work I connect with iwconfig and dhclient. I am now in a different location with a different router. The same thing is happening. The computer recognizes a network but will not bind to it.
