Wireless Connection issues with Ubuntu 9.04

I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 and have been having issues with a flaky connection. The connection will stay up for a few minutes before rapidly slowing down to a crawl and dying. Once the connection dies, it tries to reconnect but never does. I can manually restart the connection by disabling the wireless (or networking altogether) and initializing it again, but after a few minutes it will die again. I don't think this is an issue with my router because my other computer is on wireless as well with Ubuntu 8.04 (the same wireless drivers, Broadcom 4306 ver3) and has not had any issues. Also, this machine didn't have any connection issues prior to upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04.

As far as the drivers go, everything appears to be installed correctly.

Here is the output of lspci:

I went ahead and uninstalled b43-fwcutter (it was installed already), restarted and then installed it again, retstarted again and no dice. Still having the same issue.

Maybe a silly question, but do you know if this card is functional in windows? more to check it is not damaged.

Well, the whole reason I began to upgrade from 8.04 was to see if I could get the networking plug to start working. I tried XP, FC11, and Ubuntu9 without any luck. I finally resorted to using a usb adapter to hard line the machine. When I installed XP, I wasn't particularly looking for the wireless to be working, but I did notice that it wasn't. I chalked that up to the computer not being up to date rather than a component being broken.

So, are you thinking that I should reinstall with Windows, get it up to date and see if the card is working properly?

well, it's interesting you say that you had problems in windows too. traditionally we've all had difficulty with wireless, especially broadcom cards, but generally there are well worked out solutions these days. I'm surprised at the level of difficulty you've had, which leads me to think there may be hardware issues to contend with.
