wireless connection channel problems

dear all,

my computer is a Dell 600m with Suse 10.0. The netcard is intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG.

it can detect and connect to our school's wireless network . however, it can not connect to our home's wireless network although it seems to be able to detect the signal ( to make it worse, it may even say " Connected sucessfully", but actually it did not). The other laptop with Windows can connect to the wireless network with no problem.

One thing I want to mention is that: It DID be able to connect to the wireless net BEFORE. At that time, the channel was automatically set at 11 . but now for some reason the wirless channel changes to 1. It seems that the computer can ONLY connect when it is in channel 11. But How can I change the channel from 1 back to 11?

thanks for help!

try:

iwconfig wlan0 channel 11

where wlan0 is the name of your wireless interface.
i think you need to be root to do this.

just curious: my wireless interface ( do you mean sth like eth1, eth0?) can detect many wireless network with different names. can i mannualy to force the RIGHT wireless network to go to the RIGHT channel?

and if the channel is problem, why channel 1 show up even it can not work?

Thanks!
