Wireless configuration with WPA on FC6 without wpa_supplicant?

Hi. I've left OpenSuse to explore Fedora Core 6, 'cause I don't like it so much. A terrible error. In OpenSuse, with ndiswrapper, some days and a good iron will, I connected to the Internet without problem. Now I can't. Why? Cause My access point as a WPA-PSK authentication. So, without an internet connection I can't download wpa_supplicant I need to have an internet connection.

In OpenSuse, using Yast, I can choose key type, I think (I hope....) I can do it in some way either in Fedora. If not... How can I obtain wpa_supplicant without Yum? Consider that now I don't know if wireless card works properly, I can't try it :|

Isn't it supposed to be on the CD's/DVD? Anyway, if it isn't there's still a few options. If the AP is yours, maybe you can temporarily make it use no auth at all. Of course this is bad practice and not advisable but still an option. AP's also act as routers for wired ethernet connections so maybe you could temporarily use your wired network if the machine has a card. Else ask a family member/friend/co-worker/whoever else to download it for you or go to an internet cafe and D/L there.

NetworkManager

You could try NetworkManager, as that seems to be what the Fedora folk are moving towards — I'm not sure whether it just calls wpa_supplicant, or has it's own version built in. Anyway, "service NetworkManager start" as root, then run "nm-applet" as the logged in user to get a nice panel applet that should let you set things up, including the shared key. If you're using kde, then knetworkmanager does the same thing.

Alex.
