Wireless card problem..

I've just bought a Zyxel wirless card(ZyAIR G-102) for my laptop. It sees the Linksys router but cannot connect to it. I have another old card(Microsoft MN-520) that can connect to the router. Is there any reason why this card cannot connect??? Is this a compabitility issue?

make sure your router and wireless card are both wireless b or g

THe card and the router both are G. I have the setting wireless network mode on the router for "mixed".. Should it be G-only? Does any1 know if there is a forum or thread for compatibility list of wireless cards that work with Lynksys WRT54G router? Sorry for so many questions just new to this stuff.

try to ping 192.168.1.1 (the ip of your router) in console. if it gives you times (ex: time=0.419) then you are connected to the router but just cant get online.... if it says host unreachable or something simmilar then your card find or create a link to the router so you might have to check the drivers and make sure your routers wireless network is as open as you can make it for testing, one last thing to try is setting your card to static ip.... usually the ip can be 192.168.1.110, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1
