Wireless AP with orinoco chip

I have an old computer i want to use to extend the range of my wireless network to reach the rest of the house. I've been looking aroud the net and have found many how tos on this subject but they all refer to hostap which seems to be for Prism chips only and i have a Netgear card with an Orinoco chip. So is it still possible to do this and will i need another wireless adapter aswell (total of two) or can one card extend the signal?
Many thanks

If you have a netgear card I doubt its an orinoco chip, it might be using the orinoco_cs driver, is it an MA401? If so that's a prism2 card and will work fine with the hostap driver:

Sorry, my mistake. You are right, thanks

Awesome, that's one of the best prism2 cards out there, I recommended the hell out of that to everyone running Linux (before G hit the streets), ran my home AP off of a WPC11 and the hostap driver for about three years, you'll love it.
