WiFi interface will no longer pick up an IP address from access point.

I have a laptop with an Intel PRO/Wireless 4965 card that I have had set-up on my home network just fine for a few months, using the Intel driver. I recently went to visit family and friends abroad, used their connections and have now developed this bizarre problem where I can no longer connect with DHCP. The only option - even on my home network - is to set-up a fixed IP address and manually put in the DNS servers.

I get an error as follows:

"Failed to get network address on wlan0 (ZeroConf Protocol)"

I'm running Mandriva 2008 and I would stress that this used to work fine. I went to a friend's house, put in the WEP key and it worked. Went to relatives with an unsecured network, worked fine. Went back to original friend's house, it only worked with fixed IP address and got the above error. Now, I'm back home and no amount of trying to reconnect or reset-up the WiFi connection helps.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Which router do you use? Should the interface maybe be configured to use DHCP?

It's a Linksys router, but I really don't think that's the issue. My laptop has worked fine on it for months and my wife's XP laptop still works fine. Something's got screwed up on the laptop, but I really can't fathom what!

Their router's also a Linksys

I have now, but it makes no difference. This is bizarre; I've seen two or three posts on the web now complaining of the same problem, but no solution.
