Wifi Adapter Config Issue on Fedora 8...

Greetings,

My apologies for what may be a routine issue. I'm a newbie when it comes to wireless configuration.

I've installed Fedora 8 (2.6.23.15-137.fc8) on a usb drive, on a Dell Inspiron 9300. The installation works fine, but I'm having problems with wifi setup.

I've a wifi router setup in my room, which works fine within WinXP, on the same computer/wifi client configuration. The wifi adapter is an Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG.

I login as root and launch Network Configuration. It displays the wifi card/adapter as eth1 and as inactive. Its status is shown as 'ok'. I hit the "activate" button and get the following message (which also shows at boot time), "cannot activate network device eth1...no link present".

I've set the Mode and Transmit Rate to Auto. I've selected my wifi network name and I've included the WEP key. I've tried this config with every available SSID #.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance...

Justin
