Question What is the Problem with my WLAN?

I have Ubuntu 8.04 and have reinstalled it probably twice over the past six months. Each time I install the drivers for my card, Atheros ar5007eg and it'll work fine for a while. Then it progressively gets worse each time, it'll see the networks but won't connect to them. What could possibly be causing this.

There is almost 100% signal, no settings have changed.

It seems like this happens every time I remove evolution mail from Ubuntu but why would that cause this?

Evolution probably has nothing to do with it.

What driver module are you using for it? For the most part, the default ath5k modules sucks and Madwifi is needed in most cases.

Are automatic kernel updates screwing up your madwifi install? Madwifi tends to lag behind kernel changes a bit. It's never a good idea to allow automatic kernel updates.

Just a few suggestions to think about, post back on anything that might ring a bell there.

I'm using a published solution for my card (the only one that works) which uses ndiswrapper. I guess the built in wireless on my laptop is a notorious hassle for linux (all distros). So today I actually just ended up buying a recommended usb wireless card that works right out of the box with Ubuntu and no longer have any problems.
