What do I do after installing RT3070 file?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I have an EnGenius EUB9706 wireless USB adapter. The driver for it is located at http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2. The company told me to run the RT3070USB(RT307x) driver, so I went through the steps and set it up. Now it detects the wireless adapter, but won't connect to my wireless connection. What am I to do now?
I am running Ubuntu 9.04

Assuming that 'iwconfig' really does show that your wireless card is detected, try running from the command line:
Code:
        iwconfig <wireless_device> channel auto
iwconfig <wireless_device> key <your_AP_hex key open
        iwconfig wlan0 essid <essid_of_your_router>
If no joy, maybe posting the output of 'iwconfig' would help us.

BTW, I assume that 'ifconfig' show that the interface is UP.

Similar Problem

I have a USB Dongle using the same chip.

I use sabayon 5.0 and have blacklisted both rt2800usb and rt2870sta kernel modules (which seemed to conflict when I ran dmesg). Previously the dongle was not seen at all. Now:

dan@cumberland ~ $ sudo iwlist ra0 scan
Password:
ra0 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:13:64:37:98F
ESSID:"cumbriamylord"
Mode:Managed
Channel:8
Quality:5/100 Signal level:-88 dBm Noise level:-115 dBm
Encryption keyn
Bit Rates:22 Mb/s
IE: WPA Version 1
Group Cipher : TKIP
Pairwise Ciphers (1) : TKIP
Authentication Suites (1) : PSK

So the dongle is working but i still I can't connect to my AP. I've tried using Wicd and get no joy.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan

Blacklist

Just an update in case it's useful.

I gave up on Sabayon and installed Ubuntu. I blacklisted two modules: rt2870sta and rt2800usb and the adapter now works fine.

Blacklisting didn't work in Sabayon though so there is still a mystery.
