did you use the command ndiswrapper -i "INI FILE"?

I would do this
ndiswrapper -i "INI FILE"
ndiswrapper -m
ndiswrapper -l
dhcpcd wlan0

Then it should work. At least it did for me. I did not use vmware on my card and I have a wmp54g card also. I just used the drivers that can with the cd.

once you all done

"iwconfig wlan0"

and it should work.
then go into your wireless configuration file. in slackware is rc.wireless.conf. and add things like the channel, frequency, ESSID, etc. All you really need is the channel and ESSID. It will dhcp it and work fine. As long as there is no WEP.

I finished a write up. There is some information about setting up wlan0 to be configured on bootup.
