USB Wireless NIC not recognized

tried installing buffalo usb wireless NIC on UBUNTU 7.04. No joy. Any idea if this is possible?

Details, please.

What's the chipset of the USB device?

What do you mean when you say "tried installing?" Did you install NDISwrapper or any other drivers? Did you look at the output of dmesg to see if the device is being recognized?

I preface this message with the note that I am very new to working with linux, a fact I failed to mention in my previous post because I think it is apparant by the composition of my request. I am grateful for the patience and assistance that has and will be offered

the chipset of the Buffalo NIC is: airgo usb\vid_0411&Pid_00bc&Rev_0006

I took a system previously installed with WINXP and installed
UBUNTU 7.04 from a live cd provided with SAMS UNLEASHED (2nd ed.).
I am unsure if NDISwrapper was included with the cd I used.
I have downloaded it to a thumbdrive and I can open it on the system but I am unsure of how to install it. I have the drivers but I am equally unsure of what to do.

I am not sure where to check dmesg but the system log shows a high speed usb device is connected but no configuration is assigned.

Success with D-Link wireless NIC

I was unable to get the results I was looking for when searching the files in the instructions offered at the NDISwrapper website. I was really frustrated so I decided to try another card to see if it would work. I installed a D-Link WDA-2320 wireless NIC and had instant results.
I learned a lot from this experience and recognize areas that I need to improve.
Thank you 2Gnu, for the direction you offered. I hope to continue my education and eventually be able to help others.

And that, my friend, is exactly how this process works.

Good luck.
