usb wireless adaptor

i just changed from windows to linux....or making the change actually...

i downloaded the 9.2 edition of Mandrake. However, i can't seem to get my Linksys USB Wireless Adaptor v3 (WUSB11) to work. I don't know where i would get drivers, or ever how i would install them....i've used mandrake 8 but i don't remember much from it.

I got drivers for the v2.6. I put them in /home/(user)/Documents/driver/ and tried running make, but when i do, i keep getting errors on compiling..

I am forced to use windows until i can get my linux side up on the net...

PS. I also posted this in hardware...but no one replied, so i figured i might have posted it in the wrong category.

ok...here's my update.

The reason i had errors compiling was because i didn't have the source for the kernel. I got that...then compiling was no problem. but, i'm confused as where to go from there.......

Start off loading the driver with "modprobe yourwirelessdriver" (as root) and then "dmesg". Dmesg should show the card being recognized. Then it's just a matter of assigning the various parameters to your card with "ifconfig" and "iwconfig" and it should work. Once all the parameters are correct you can put them in a script that will run at startup and automatically configure your card.

If you have problems, post back with info RE chipset, system configuration, etc.

Good Luck
Alan
