USB Wifi adapter D-Link DWA-125 (Ralink 2870) friendly distro?

Hello!

I've been a happy Ubuntu user just until my laptop's motherboard died of overheating (very sad). So now I'm spending my days on this fabulous Compaq Armada E500 with 700MHz processor and 128 MB ram. Since the only connection I have in my room is wireless, I connect to internet with D-Link DWA-125. On Windows XP it works fine, but... I miss Linux!

Within two days I've tried Damn Small Linux and Debian. DSL is damn small indeed and nice enough, but since this machine is the only one I have at the moment, I need a more descent OS. Deban is great, but due to some problems during net instal there was a number of problems (most of them probably solvable though). However, I didn't manage to get my wireless working. I've tried ndiswrapper on DSL, but it didn't work. I did download the Ralink driver, but didn't try it out (intallation manual seemed too tricky).

Can anyone please advise a distro that will surely work with this network adapter (as according to what I've read, it is possible to make it work with Linux)?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Puppy linux should work well. Wireless is easy to setup even with ndiswrapper. Check out the link below for the driver you need from Tempestous. You are looking for the rt3572sta pet. To install a .pet just click on it.
