Unable to compile hostapd
I have looked at the other posts that are similar in nature but they do not answer my question completely. Plus I am really new to Linux and working within this environment. Not even sure of all the information you will need to answer me but I did make a copy of my error messages. I will provide any other information I can but may need help figuring out how to do that. Hope you people are patient.
These are the warnings I get when I try to compile: Code:

Welcome to LQ. .. .. :) ..
Have you tried with # yum install hostapd ( hostapd is available for Fedora 12..14.) Building hostapd : May be you are missing a requirement .. http://hostap.epitest.fi/gitweb/gitw...hostapd/README Or / and # yum install glibc-devel kernel-devel openssl-devel About post #1 : Could you please edit it to use code tags : [/code] at code end, and [code] at code text start. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?do=bbcode .. |
Thanks for the reply and I have looked at the links. Like I said I am real new to this. I don't know what you mean by # yum. I will look a bit closer at the requirements listed in that first link and see if I can figure out if my system meets them. Thanks again.

But use a command line installer like yum, or the GUI 'Package Manager'. ('yumex'?) It's like a catalog with 16,000 packages : Choose, click OK, and the software gets installed. Using yum : Open the terminal, and : 1) su <enter-password> 2) yum search <name> ( Or part of name ) 3) yum install hostapd Also useful : Finding the package that provides a file : yum provides */<file> Please also read 'man yum'. It's a manual page, to be read in the terminal. http://linux.die.net/man/8/yum More questions : Then please tell which Fedora, you use. ( cat /etc/redhat-release ). Good luck ! .. |
Once again, thank you for your help. I will check this out tomorrow at work.
