I'm trying to get my new Acer laptop on my wifi network running (hopefully) on WPA security. I'd love to do it through the interfaces file (/etc/network) since the network-manager package just kind of annoys me. I used to be able to configure the file myself but they changed it for the new Ubuntu Dapper release. I just need someone to give me a quick run down of the new syntax and set-up or point me towards a website with it all laid out nice and easy.
Ok I've decided to go ahead and use the network-manager package. Looks like it should remove headaches. I followed the instructions I found and commented out everything in my interfaces file except lo. After rebooting my system the manager only sees my wired network. What do I need to do to make it see (and use) my wireless nic?
I don't use this program however when I setup Wifi-Radar on my system it wouldn't see wireless networks because it had the wrong card selected in the config file. Check the conf and see if has the proper one for wireless (eth0, eth1, etc.).
