trouble with hotel connection

I travel with two hard drives. The first is a company provide Windows system, and the second is a personal hdd with Suse 10.2 loaded. The ibm t40 laptop has an atheros based wireless pcmcia card.

At home, I have the wireless card working with both systems.

On the road, I have run into trouble using the wireless card with linux. I am currently sitting in a hotel and the windows works just as it should.

When I try to use the linux system, the wireless card can see the hotel's network, however when I try to log on, it times out and never connects.

?? Can any one offer any help ??

Tough to say. Do you use any wireless protection at home? Perhaps these hotel connections are encrypted, in which case you would need wpa_supplicant, which you may not have. I forget what package management Suse uses, but just use (Yast?) to install a package named something like "wpa_supplicant"
