I've been using wpa_supplicant and wpa_gui to see the network at work. The overall signal quality seems to average around 50%. I can sometimes get a good connection and associate the network, so I know my configuration is correct. So, I suppose my question is why does it have a hard time associating the network? Does WPA require a high degree of signal clarity? And is there any way to increase the probability of associating?
Additional information:
CentOS 5.2 with 2.6.28 kernel

Reason: additional information
it would be helpful if you can tell us what is the card and what driver (-D option) you are
using to connect to WPA SSID.
Also is it WPA PSK or EAP based ?
