Hi
I'm looking for an opensource solution to provide gateway access between a wired and wireless network - either as a distro or software. So far I have looked at chillispot and noCat, but is there anything else out there? Basically I am looking for a way to manage wireless clients (including handhelds) connecting to the LAN using WPA, OpenVPN, FreeRadius, iptables and MAC authentication.
Can anyone suggest options for me to consider? Is there a particular distro I should use (keeping security in mind), maybe a good SSL certificate management interface?
I'd really appreciate some advice on this or if someone could get in touch with me that implimented such a scenario successfully.
Well, haven't done it yet, but we're also pretty much using OpenVPN.
for RSA key management, I've (yet) only looked at the manual way, or http://openvpn.sourceforge.net/easyrsa.html
Choosing a distro, for me it would be Debian (testing, soon to be stable). If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask..
Anyway, feel free to join the OpenVPN mailing list, and hopefully you'll keep us all posted because interested we are!
I eventually opted for M0n0wall, the new beta release is pretty much what I had in mind - well, except for the certificate management part. I was definately impressed
take a look to Mikrotik or StarOs, those too are not free, but you can take a demo to try, Mikrotik dont even is expensive, here in brazil something like 250Reais, thats make 100box,
but there are a lot of linux or Bsd based free stuff, like wifidog, LinuxAP, PicoBsd, Monowall is pretty good but don't manage the client i think.
now there is a project of Talweg than is the candy upon the cake of security, from a livecd, very very nice.... but only allows web page( tchao tchao msn, voip.....)
