switch profile/ settings in different locations
Hi,
I have a Centrino notebook. I use ipw2100 driver now. I always use my computer in school and at home. But the network setting for these two locations are different.(e.g. I use WEP at home but not in school) How do I dealing with this problem? Can any program help me create and switch profiles in different preseted locations?(just like Windows XP wireless support) |
Hello there,
What distro are you using? You may wish to add it to your profile so other users know what you are using. Anyhow, it will take only a couple of lines to switch AP's or, depending on distro, a connection manager to select a different one. Cheers Chris |

I am using SUSE 9.2. Actually, I am thinking can I make 1 more interface to stimulate the switching? (e.g. I use Centrino eth0 wired LAN eth1 wireless LAN(use at location A) eth2 wireless LAN(use at location B) ? |
Thats an interesting thought, never considered giving that a go. In Fedora I can simply bring up the gui and deactivate one connection and activate another. Never spent much time with suse so I cant comment. However I think additional interfaces would not be the way to go. You need multiple configurations for the one interface I think.
