Suse 10.1=wireless driving me mad

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hey people,
Ive been using suse 10.1 on my Clevo D47EV. Specs can been seen in the following web page:

ww.clevo.com.tw/products/D47EV.asp

After recently investing in a Dlink DSL-G604T i cant install my wifi. My wifi has never been recognised on suse. As best as i can tell the following site is the hardware my computer is using:

ww.modem-help.com/Clevo/802.11b[/url] USB300 Wireless LAN Adapter.php

Now i searched for the company names mentioned on this site and it seems any1 that uses linux is smart enough not to buy a clevo. Ive tried installing ndiswrapper but a warning msg came up saying tpctl-kmp-smp needed to be removed then i clicked to remove it then got another msg sayin it was needed for something else. me being the noob that i am dont like to delete things wen it tells me not to delete things. as far as i could tell my wifi wasnt on the compatability list for ndiswrapper anyway. So here i am. left to my last resort. Hoping someone out there can either help me fix the problem or point me in the direction of a distro that will work with my hardware out the box. So any clevo d4x series users on linux would be great. I'd really appreciate the help and if there is anymore info needed pls let me know and ill get back to you. Thanks for your time guys.

According to http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_p...ndname=Wistron your wifi card has a Prism chipset, which is supported by linux-wlan.org. You just need to install the wlan-kmp-default RPM. If you search for this in YaST it should be there, else download it from http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i586.rpm.html or get the 64-bit version if you need that.
After installing that package the wifi card should show up after rebooting.

Thanks for your help rjwilmsi. Ive done as you have told me. Rebooted with high hopes and nothing has changed. I go to network cards in yast and i can only see my ethernet connection. I tried adding a new netwrok card with the prism option. And it didnt work. The whole time i have been able to diasable wireless in network manager but there are no networks to select from. Thanks for your help but it dosnt seem im any closer to my solution.

Lightbulb It works for me in 10.2

I installed opensuse 10.2 and it works perfectly, except from signalstrengt indication!
Have tried installed ralink 2500 driver in debian etch, but could not get it work. Probably I dont know how to do it right!

I also have the Clevo D47EV laptop.
