Suggestions, please: Wireless router or server with wireless card?

Maybe this belongs in hardware, I'm not sure.
I'm gonna buy a new laptop, so I want to set up a wireless network at home.
I'm going to turn my current desktop PC into a headless server, for torrent downloading, file server and mpd server, basically.
So, I have 2 options to serve wireless to my laptop:
- Buy a wireless router
- Buy a wireless card for my desktop

Which one is better?
What are the pros and cons of each of them?

My two cents worth; buy a wireless router with at least one wired port. This is easier to configure. If you put the wireless card on the headless horseman, you will always be dependant on it to be up. Routers are reliable, and they make the two machines independent.
