smc 2635 wi-fi card drivers for mdk10?

Are there step by step directions for the smc 2635 wi-fi card for mdk 10 w/ 2.6.3 kernel? i can't seem to compile any of the drivers and the one for RH8/7 from smc can't compile either. i don't know how to upgrade the kernel so i'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
